3-Day Advanced Yogic Concepts Teacher Training Intensive with Yoga Doctors
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
Day 1: 21st Century Yoga Chikitsa Immersion
Friday, 8/27, 1 - 6 PM
Merging the ancient yoga therapy tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya (teacher of B.K.S. Iyengar, Patthabi Jois and T.K.V. Desikachar) with cutting edge perspectives on yoga biomechanics, FUNctional anatomy, Chinese meridian theory and Janda muscle movement patterns, this opening day workshop provides a foundation in the Yoga Doctors methodology and practical skills that will begin to change your practice and teaching forever.
Day 2: The Science and Art of Vinyasa Sequencing for Private Sessions
Saturday, 8/28, 11 - 6 PM
Using Western functional assessment models developed through the work of sports medicine gurus, Gray Cook, PT and Craig Liebenson, DC combined with Eastern Acupressure point therapy, detailed breath-oriented exercises and yoga asana-ology, this workshop will teach you how to understand your clients and what their practice needs in a more intimate and specific way. Introducing basic range of motion, muscle strength and peak performance evaluations, you will learn to build better individualized yoga programs for your clients to enhance their overall state-of-mind, health and well-being.
Day 3: Balancing the Elements
Sunday, 8/29, 11 - 6 PM
Drawing upon the fundamental principles covered during the previous days and adding in Raja yoga essentials like pranayama, traditional chanting, vinyasa krama asana practice and meditation, we will synthesize the practice into mini-sequences that are therapeutic and adapatable for clients and personal sadhana. Through individualized case studies and class discussions, the yogic concept of Samata (“equanimity”) will be applied to develop a broader understanding of how yoga can help us maintain greater balance on the mental, energetic, physical, physiologic and spiritual levels.
